I was introduced to this amazing singer of Greek traditional music by my good friend Panos Charalampous, an artist whose work is highly influenced of his region's heritage and his youth memories. Some of Takis Karnavas' existing recordings are raw "bootlegs", recorded on the spot at rural annual carnivals and fiestas. These recordings possess a certain quality, saturated by the use of contemporary sound equipment (delays & echoes, electric guitars & synth keyboards), making this sort of traditional music a form of "Greek Dub".
